Subaru Confirms Participation in North American International Auto Show:

Automaker to Debut New Concept Vehicle in DetroitCherry Hill, N.J., December 5, 2008 - Subaru of America, Inc. has confirmed that it will participate in the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit this January. The company looks to present both the Motor Trend Sport/Utility of the Year, the 2009 Subaru Forester and a new concept vehicle.Subaru is the only full-line brand to post an increase in sales year-to-date.

The 2009 Subaru Impreza lineup is revised, and the sporty WRX gets more power. Impreza comes as a 4-door sedan or 4-door hatchback. Trim levels include base 2.5i, SUV-flavored Outback Sport, 2.5GT, and performance-oriented WRX and WRX STi. The 2.5i, 2.5GT, and WRX are offered in both body styles; the Outback Sport and WRX STi come only in hatchback form. All models have all-wheel drive and a 2.5-liter horizontally opposed 4-cylinder engine. The 2.5i and Outback Sport have 170 hp. All other Impreza models are turbocharged. The 2.5GT has 224 hp, the WRX has 265, and the WRX STi has 305. The 2009 WRX has 41 hp more than the 2008 model. A manual transmission is standard on most models and comes with a hill-holder clutch. An automatic with manual shift capability is standard on the 2.5GT and optional on the 2.5i and Outback Sport. Available safety features on all Imprezas include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. The Outback Sport has a raised suspension, while the 2.5GT and WRX get a sport suspension, hood scoop, and automatic climate control. WRX STi has a performance suspension and unique trim.
